Solid Ground From Echoes

I watch as her breath hits the glass.

A moment of time, here and gone past.

She stands by the edge, her nose pressed tight,

My silent observer of nature’s light.

From the deep city streets so loud and bright,

We found our way to hopes of silent nights.

A place where natures sound could have ruled the land,

But it all fell away like a thousand pieces of sand.

It’s been such an odd mix of sound.

From what we’ve been through downtown,

To the place we filled with so many dreams of being found.

All the way to right here, right now, with both nature and city sounds surround.

It’s been a long journey to find this solid ground,

But I think this is it, as I look around..

This is finally where we’re truly meant to be sound.

Both the noise and the calm.

A pond, a patch of nature near,

Yet still so many city sounds lingering here.

An odd mix, indeed, the city buzz echos on the breeze,

But somehow, both, now have a certain way of coaxing ease.

For in this blend, I’ve come to see,

There’s a very strange bitter sweet harmony awakened in me.

A man reaches out and raises his hand,

the truck going past knows his command.

The beauty of nature with ducks and geese, and the smile left lingering on his son’s little cheeks.

A beautiful combination of what I love, what I need

to rise above.

I think this is it, this place indeed

has my heart safe enough to finally be free.

So thank you Ben,

And thank you Brandi.

For showing me, what it means to have a home with true family.
