About The Haven Project

Q: What is The Haven Project?

A: The Haven Project is a community-funded program by Herbal Haven that provides free, professional home cleanings to individuals and families facing illness, hardship, or other life challenges.

Q: How is this different from a regular cleaning service?

A: Unlike a standard paid booking, The Haven Project cleanings are funded entirely through donations and sponsorships. Recipients are selected based on need, not ability to pay.

Eligibility & Applications

Q: Who can receive a Haven Project cleaning?

A: Anyone. We focus on helping:

  • People recovering from illness, surgery, or medical treatments

  • People struggling with depression, or other mental health problems.

  • Families experiencing grief, loss, or sudden hardship

  • Single parents under strain

  • Caregivers who rarely receive help themselves

Q: Do I have to live in a certain area?

A: We currently serve all of Calgary Alberta and surrounding communities. As the program grows, we aim to expand further.

Q: How do I apply?

A: Fill out our Application with your details. You can apply for yourself or on behalf of your household.

Q: How do you choose recipients?

A: We review applications based on urgency, level of need, and available funding. Priority goes to cases where a clean will have the greatest impact.

Q: How often can someone receive a clean?

A: Most recipients receive a one-time clean. Multiple visits may be approved in special cases, such as ongoing medical treatments.

Nominations

Q: Can I nominate someone else?

A: Absolutely. Many recipients are nominated by friends, neighbors, or coworkers.

Q: Will they know I nominated them?

A: Only if you want them to. You can remain anonymous. It is their choice if they would like to accept our help.

Q: What if they decline?

A: We will contact you to let you know.

The Cleaning Process

Q: What’s included in a Compassion clean?

A: Services may include:

  • Dusting, wiping, and sanitizing surfaces

  • Vacuuming and mopping

  • Kitchen cleaning (countertops, sinks, appliances)

  • Bathroom cleaning (toilets, sinks, tubs, showers)

  • Tidying and organizing as needed

  • When extra funds are available beyond the cleaning need we gift any necessities we deem could benefit the recipient(s) most.
This could include cleaning supplies, groceries, household goods, and/or self-care essentials.

You can read our Cleaning FAQ Here

Q: How long does the clean take?

A: Typically 2–4 hours, depending on how many team members are attending, the home size and needs.

Q: Do they need to be home?

A: No. As long as safe entry is arranged, they do not need to be home. Often we are cleaning before the recipient returns home from medical treatments/care.

For Sponsors & Donors

Q: How can my business get involved?

A: Sponsor a clean at any level, starting at $125. Sponsors receive public recognition, social media features, and content to share with their own audience.

Q: Can I choose who my sponsorship helps?

A: We match sponsorships to recipients based on need and timing. If you’d like to fund a specific person, we can arrange that privately. Some businesses may choose to sponsor on of their own staff members going through a difficult time.
Please
Contact Us for more information about sponsoring a specific person.

Q: Are sponsorships and donations tax-deductible?

A: At this time, they are not eligible for charitable tax receipts, but they directly support local families and strengthen community goodwill. The Clean Haven Project operates as part of our business mission. Sponsorships operate as business partnerships and therefore we provide acknowledgment letters and receipts to donors and sponsors so their contributions can be written off as advertising or marketing expenses.

Q: Can I contribute monthly?

A: Yes — monthly contributions help us plan more cleanings and serve more people consistently.

Q: Can I volunteer to help with a clean?

A: No. Our cleanings are completed by fully trained, insured staff. To be apart of our cleaning process you would need to apply to be apart of our team, meet all of our hiring requirements, and go through our set up and training programs.

However, we welcome volunteers for fundraising, outreach, garbage and donation removal and supply drives.

Q: How do you protect privacy?

A: No identifying details or photos are ever shared without written consent. Recipients are treated the same as any client and may at any time request their information to be deleted from our systems. You may read more about our Privacy Policy Here.

Q: How else can I help?

A: Share our program on social media, tell local businesses about sponsorship opportunities, and nominate people in need.

A clean home can truly be the foundation that helps to change everything for a person who is struggling.
