Do You Escape or do you Heal? ❤️🩹
Cannabis has become widely accepted and used for various reasons~ relaxation, stress relief, pain management, or simply to unwind.
While it offers many benefits, it’s important to be honest with ourselves about our relationship with it, especially if we start to feel dependent or notice patterns of overuse.
Heres a simple yet powerful exercise to try.
Discovering the Reason Behind Your Cannabis Use
For the next week, continue consuming cannabis as you normally would. No changes, no restrictions~ just your usual routine.
But here’s the catch: every time you consume, ask yourself a simple question and be brutally honest with your answer: Why?
It’s essential to be real with yourself and explore the emotions or circumstances behind your consumption.
Some common reasons people might use cannabis include:
~To unwind after a long day.
~Pain management
~To silence overwhelming thoughts or ease anxiety.
~To cope with loneliness or feelings of isolation.
~To escape from anger or frustration when someone has upset you.
~Because your day didn’t go as planned and left you feeling down.
~When your job or career feels unfulfilling, and you need a temporary escape.
~To manage irritation when a partner or loved one is causing stress.
Take note of your answers and record them for a full week. Be as specific and truthful as possible, even if it feels uncomfortable.
At the end of the week, review your notes. You’ll likely notice a recurring theme that underlies your cannabis use.
Uncovering the Root Cause
This exercise will help you identify what you’re addicted to getting away from!!!
Cannabis addiction isn’t like other physical dependencies; it’s often an addiction to escaping discomfort. Weed itself is NOT the problem!! The real issue lies in what you’re trying to avoid.
Are you using cannabis to numb feelings of loneliness, anxiety, or dissatisfaction? Or to avoid situations too difficult confront?
Are you trying to escape from negative emotions or avoid confronting a problem in your life? The pattern you uncover will point you directly to the root cause.
Turning The Focus Inward
Once you identify what you’re running from, the next step is to shift your focus and face it head-on. This might feel intimidating or uncomfortable, but it’s crucial for growth and healing.
Rather than using cannabis to avoid these feelings, you can begin using it in a more intentional and healing way.
When you face what you’ve been avoiding~whether it’s emotional discomfort, dissatisfaction in your life, or unresolved issues~ you create an opportunity to work through it.
Use cannabis as a tool to dive deeper!
It can be a powerful aid for meditation and introspection, helping you access and process your emotions in a safe space.
Using Cannabis As A Healing Tool.
Instead of running away, use cannabis as a means to confront the darkness within. Here’s how:
1. Create a SAFE Environment: Find a quiet and comfortable space where you feel safe and at ease. Make this your time to connect with yourself.
2. Set an Intention: Before consuming, set a clear intention. For example, “I want to understand why I feel unfulfilled in my job” or “I want to explore the loneliness I’ve been avoiding.” “I want to find a way to deal with xyz”
3. Allow Yourself to Feel: Let the emotions come up, no matter how uncomfortable they may be. Breathe through the discomfort and remember pain(emotional) is a necessary part of the healing process.
4. Meditate and Reflect: Use the state of mind cannabis provides to go inward. Reflect on your feelings and experiences. Ask yourself questions and sit with the answers that arise. What does this discomfort teach you? What changes could you make to address the root cause?
5. Journal Your Thoughts: Write down your insights. Journaling can help you process your emotions and develop a clearer understanding of the issues you’re facing.
A New Perspective on Cannabis Use
When used with intention and honesty, cannabis can become a tool for healing rather than avoidance. By facing your discomfort, you give yourself the power to transform your relationship with cannabis, yourself and the world around you. The goal isn’t to quit or cut yourself off from cannabis, but to shift how and why you use it.
Make it a part of your healing journey, a tool for understanding and overcoming the challenges you face.
Remember, the most important aspect of this journey is honesty. If you’re willing to look within and explore the deeper reasons behind your cannabis use, you can shift from using it as a means of escape to using it as a pathway to self-discovery and growth.
What I’ve been trying to get through to you is it shouldn’t be used to run away from your pain. This is about walking directly into your struggles and facing them with courage, intention, and the desire to heal.
Its time to stop hiding.
Feel what you need to feel,
